Can I Translate My Personal Documents on My Own For Singapore Immigration?‍

Applicants’ foreign-language records can be translated into English by their spouses or other family members if they are professional translators themselves. The translator must, however, certify their English proficiency with a written or typed certification letter. The letter must say that the translators/interpreter is fluent in English and the source document’s native tongue (e.g Malay).

Application processing officers determine if translated documents follow ICA Singapore requirements. If the officer determines that the translation does not satisfy the ICA Singapore approved translation standards, you will be asked to resubmit it for a new translation. This will cause the application to be delayed. If you or a family member is uncertain if your translation satisfies ICA Singapore requirements, please contact a certified translation agency in Singapore.

We recommend that you use a professional translation service to ensure that your documents will be accepted.
